The Wacky Apple

The Wacky Apple

Walt: Write a personal narrative from a picture.

It was a hot summer day. The skys were blue , birds chirping , lovely green grass. “ Do you want to come with me to the park?” suggested Katie with dark brown eyes and blondish hair. Katie is the type of person that loves to go places with her friends especially with her friend Suzie. Suzie has light blue eyes and brown hair is the type of person that loves reading books however she loves the park too.

As soon as Suzie heard park she got her nose out of her book without even putting her bookmark in her book she jumped up with excitement to say “ Yes let’s go.” Exactly at the same time they got ready and got going. While they were walking to the park Katie spotted an big red apple tree. All of a sudden Suzie stopped and Katie bumped into her. “ Hey what are you doing” Katie demanded rubbing her head “ Look at that big red apple tree , I’m going to go get an apple want to come with me ?” Asked Suzie. When they got to the big red apple tree all the apples looked really disgusting but one just one big red juicy apple was right at the top of the tree.

The two friends just looked at each other and looked back up to the apple trying to figure out how to get the apple. They kept looking around to find objects that will help them get to the top but nothing was around just the two friends , little kids also a ball. Suzie suggested to stand on her shoulders and try and reach the big juicy apple but they were too short. Meanwhile Katie was getting down she saw a man with a ladder so she yelled out to him “ Excuse me can I use your ladder please?” the man answered with a quick “ Yes”.

So up Suzie went while her friend was holding the ladder Suzie grabbed the two big juicy red apples and got down oh and one for the man for being so nice. As soon as those two got the apple they bite into it and was very juicy and mouthwatering.

Glen Innes School

Glen Innes School 2 December 2015

Walt: Write a information report on Glen Innes School

Glen Innes School is in New Zealand (Auckland) and it is located on Eastview Road and in the Eastern Suburbs in Glen Innes.

Near Glen Innes School is a Kindergarten like right next door. At the school there are lots of activities to play. There is a big rugby field for sports, every term a person always comes to our school and teaches us how to play the sport such as Basketball,Hockey,Badminton,Soccer,Netball and Cricket.

Glen Innes School is one of the luckiest school because they own a swimming pool. Every day in term 1 the children have swimming lessons. At the end of the term the school has a swimming competition with various styles of swimming.

One of the teachers from Glen Innes School upgraded the library and made it into a quiet learning environment. It’s filled up with alot of books year one to eight books and some very geographical and science books. Also it’s where some people go with adults to help them read.

Glen Innes School first opened in 1955. The School starts at nine o'clock to three o'clock pm. Morning tea is at ten twenty am and lunch time is at twelve forty six pm and we get like ten to fifteen minutes to eat. School is five days a week Monday to Friday unless it is a public holiday or it is the holidays then we don’t come to school.

The principal is Mr Hendriks and there are over 210 students here 98% of the children here are pacific Islanders and a large population of Tongan. Also some of the parents who want to help the kids at Glen Innes School come to a meeting after school to raise money. There are also 12 teacher and some are the aid teachers that help the teachers with the kids in the class.

This is a good school because the teachers are good at their job and there are heaps of things for the kids to do like the year seven and eights go to sports camp for a week. Also other people come to our school and tell us why it is important to stay in school and why it’s cool to read. The even put on cool plays to show us if it is good or bad.

Wumpalump

WALT: rewrite a story in 5 sentences
Wumpalump

Wumpalump thought of himself as I am love I am joy I am peace. He lived in nothingness and all he felt was pain, confusion and loneliness. Until he realized that he created a beautiful world with all love, all joy and all peace. He didn’t want anyone to feel what he felt before so he told everyone not to look at the nothing less world or the will feel pain, confusion and loneliness. But two little lumps didn't listen and they looked in it the nothingness world, and they could feel pain, confusion and loneliness.

Making a chain

WALT: Write a recount
Make the chain and measure it.

IMG_4074.JPGMonday 23 November 2015 in maths my class room 11 was making a chain out of Red and Green paper. We had to be in buddies, my buddie was Shanelle. Our teacher wanted us to do this because we were learning about estimation. But before we started making a chain we had to estimate how long the chain would be.

FullSizeRender (1).jpgFirstly Shanelle and I both agreed to only do 1 cm on the width side. Then we started ruling 1 cm on the paper. I did the green and Shanelle did the red. After we cut the paper we decided on our pattern. Our pattern when red, green, red, green.

Next we started cutting it. It was difficult because I can’t cut a straight line and because I was cutting fast. After we finished cutting we glued and attached them together to create our chain. It was really easy but my hands got really sticky.

Thereafter we were finished and we had to measure it to see how long it was. We ruled our chain against one meter ruler but some people made a chain more than one meter so we had to use two one meter rulers.

Finally we got our measurement and it was 192 cm. It was way over Shanelle and I’s estimation. But I felt happy of what Shanelle and I accomplished.

Our chain was  different to everyone else’s because we did it differently. I learnt to not make the paper thick or the chain will be short. It's better to make it thin. Instead of cutting the paper we could of used the ruler to rip through it.

Find the mean,median,mode and range.
Explain the differences in length.

Mean: 229.272727273 cm
Rounded off: 229.3
Median: 200 cm
Mode: 192 cm
Range: 297 cm

I think the longest chain is when you make your length size small like 1 cm or 2 mm. Because if you cut the paper to big you will have a short chain.

Mode,Median,Mean and Range

Today in maths time I was playing a game that involved Mode,Median,Mean and Range. My score was 300 and my total score was 300 too. The one I found the easiest was Median,Mean and Range. I found Mode hard because I didn't understand it probably. My next step is to lean more about Range so I can understand it.

The Winning ticket

“Look”, shouted the little old lady “i’ve won a winning ticket i’ve won i’ve won i’ve won yay!!!!! finally” When she got home she told her husband and they both started dancing. Then after they  got tired of dancing the her husband asked “ What are we going to do with the money ” and  the old lady looked at him with a great big smile “ I’ve always wanted to go to australia” and the husband said “ Yeah me two ”.

Then the next morning they packed their bags to go to the airport. When they put their bags on the plane they got on the plane and went to their seat. Also the plane ride was 3 ½ hours but they slept most of it , when the plane stopped at the airport in the gold coast. When they went to the department to get their bags they couldn’t see them. So they stayed their for hours waiting for their bags. “ where are our bags “ the old man said “ I don’t know but i'm getting hungry” said the wife. So they went and got something to eat.

When they came back they finally saw their bags they went and grabbed them and went to book into a motel.

Catching up with the family

WALT: Write a recount

As the glimpse of sunlight shone on my bedroom window, I could feel the warm Sunday summer sun. Today mum and I thought that we could catch up with my Nana,Aunty and Cousins today.

As I got ready for the day Mum turned the ignition on to start the car. When I heard the car start I ran to entered the car. Before I knew it we were at my Nana’s house, the minute I walked into the house all I could hear were snoring and immediately I knew everyone was asleep. Until I woke them up.

Around 10:30am all the kids were up playing around while the adults were still sleeping. It kinda sucked because I was the oldest so I had to look after the little kids but luckily there were only four of us. We all had to play outside because we were to loud. The older kids played on the trampoline and the two youngest played on the bikes.

Lunch time came up and we were hungry. We asked if we could go and get something from the bakery but the adults told us to not be lazy and make something to eat. We all sighed and made ourselves a ham sandwich and went back outside to eat it. By the time I finished my sandwich I got bored of playing outside, so I decided to go inside and watch tv, all the kids followed me.

Wow did time go fast it was 5:30pm and mum wanted to go home. So we said our goodbyes and left. I felt happy that we went to my nana’s to catch up with the family it was so fun and entertaining.

Tin foil art

Last week Friday I finally finished my art. I drew a bear. It was easy but very difficult to chose what to draw. Also I didn't write BEAR in block letters my friend Petuana did. It will be so fun to do this again.

Double Bar Graph Room 11

Work.png

WALT: Use online tools to draw a double bar graph.
Watched Didn’t watch
B:10 B:3
G:5 G:7

I made this bar graph to show how many girls and boys did/didn’t watch the RWC final. Frist our teacher told us to put our hands up if we watched it or we didn’t. There were more boys than girls that watched the game because 10 students didn’t watch the game and 13 students that did. I think the boys watch it more than girls because they have a lot of interest in it, and most girls don’t watch it because they have no interest. Everyone in the class predicted a score but Robin was the closest his on was 32-17.

Entertaining day

Entertaining day

Monday morning was time for the sports camp children to go. Our principal planned for it since term one. So all the non sports camp kids all got split up into room ten and under. I was so disappointed because I only had one friend that was in the same class as me. But there was only one day out of the whole week that was the best and it was Thursday.

Thursday morning all the non sports camp people were part of a show. It was held in our school hall. When we entered the hall and we were introduced by a lovely lady named Max. She was the lady that put together the group. Then she introduced us to the dancers, their names were Mikey,Justin,Toto and Favta. We played a quick game of Pukana and Bus Stop and after we  played those games we got split into 3 groups because there were fifteen of us. I was in Toto’s group with Asiana, Megan, Lorenzo and Tane. We practised until morning tea because we all wanted it to be perfect.

After morning tea, we had to line up and greet all the classes including the teachers. I was getting nervous because I was frightened that everyone was going to laugh at me. As we all sat down, I started to have butterflies in my stomach. The show that Mickey,Toto,Justin and Favta was about puppets and it was really interesting and funny. They had a magic ball and they threw it to anyone in the hall who put their hand up.

When it was my group to get up and dance we all went up and it was frienting but I think we did a good job then we all came together (as in the group’s that had to dance) and we did another dance. As soon as we finished the show all the classes left and we had to clean up and help Mikey,Justin,Toto and Favta take their stuff into their van.

Finally after we helped them get their stuff into their van we went with Miss Lammas to do some sports. I felt very relaxed when it was over because I knew we didn't have to do it again.

Should lunchtime be shortened?

Dear Mr Hendricks

Should lunchtime be shortened?

I think that our lunchtime should not be shortened by half an hour. The reasons are we should just leave it as it is because it is boring at home and there is nothing to do. Also I think it is not a clever idea to go home half an hour early because when you're the only child you want to stay at school with your friends and play games with them  and it’s more fun to stay with friends than go home.

Firstly it’s boring at home because I have no brothers or sisters. So I think that lunch time should just stay an hour so I can spend time with my friends and play handball and other stuff with them than be at home bored out of my mind. My opinion is that fifteen out of twenty-four children in my class don’t go to sport in the afternoon so there is really no point to shorten our lunchtime.

Lastly lunchtime should not be reduced to half an hour because some parents have work and they won't be able to pick their children up and some parents don’t want their children to be home alone.

In conclusion, for the above reasons, I believe that lunchtime shouldn’t be shortened.

Yours sincerely

Alyssa

Thank you letter to Mrs Parks

25 September 2015

Dear Mrs Parks

Thank you for helping me with my writing because now I think I can write some good sentences. Also thank you for taking your time to come and help out my class as well.

I enjoyed the 4x4 poem it was really cool and it was easy to understand but hard to find adverbs. Also the attributes about yourself was hard to find because I didn’t know which attribute described me but I found one, and thank you for telling me what some words mean that I never knew of.

I think I can learn more about my own attributes and to keep doing 4x4 poems but about other things. Once again thank you for your time and for coming into my class. But most importantly thank you heaps for helping me I really appreciate it.

Yours sincerely

Alyssa

The Black Piranha

The Black Piranha 28 August 2015

A while back a man named Charlie went to South America and he wanted to boat across the river. So he set off and boated across the river, he saw a  shadow of a fish underneath his boat then felt a tight feeling in his stomach. A splash of water sprang up and a Black Piranha was inside the boat.

A Black Piranha is a real monster they might be small but they are dangerous, a Piranha is about the average size of a normal fish. A Piranha has red fiery eyes and sharp teeth like a nail, and a stocky body like a bull dog. They even eat their own kind they take big chunks of the Piranha’s fins. They like to hunt by themselves not in a pack (Probably because they don’t want to all be eaten at the same time.) While they are hunting for their meal and they take a bite the Piranha swims away like a click of a finger.

But luckily Charlie threw the Black Piranha out of the boat and back into the river, but he got a battle scar of trying to get it back into the river.

New Zealand milo cup

WALT: Design our own NZ milo cup

Today I made a NZ milo cup.
The first thing I had to do was design a pattern that is from New Zealand so I decided to draw a gumboot. Then we had to draw our design on a cup and trace over it with a whiteboard marker or vivid to make it stand out.
