Duffy Hero Assembly
WALT:Write a recount
This morning room seven to twelve went to the hall because a man named Matthew a recording producer came to our school. Matthew, a Samoan and when he was a little kid he went to Favona School.
First we greeted Matthew and then we sang the national anthem. But it was a little different because Matthew started it off. He came to our school because we had a duffy hero assembly and he told us why it is important to read. Also he brought some stuff with him and the stuff he brought was a keyboard, microphone, headphones and a voice tube that was connected to the keyboard. He told us why it is important to read because if we can’t read then it things will be hard to do because if you are a recording producer or a singer it will be hard to sing because you wouldn't know what to sing.
Next he asked if he could have a volunteer who would be confident singing in front of the school.Guess what! Someone from our class (Room 11) went up and it was Robin. When he went up he put the headphones on and then Matthew said that there are 2 rooms one recording room and the other room a singing room. After he explained about that he told Robin he can sing his song so Robin sang Who’s lovin you by Michael Jackson. When Robin was finished singing he went back to his seat.
Then Matthew told us to say “It’s cool to read” as loud as we can. After he told us to say that he asked us if we had any questions and there were a lot of hands up because they wanted to ask questions of course. One of the studies asked if Matthew could sing us a song on the audio tube and he did and the song he sang was the national anthem and it sounded cool.
Lastly after he sang the song he helped Mr hendricks give out the Duffy books to the people who went to the library and choose 2 more books. Then it was time for Matthew to go and for us to start learning.
I thought that it was a cool Duffy Hero Assembly. It is important to read so keep reading !!!! :)
