Dear Mum

Hi mum how are you ? I miss you so much I wish I can come back. Thankyou for the food you sent me they were yummy as. Hope you are okay and that everything is okay while I have been gone. Also I don’t know when I’ll be able to come back home but I hope it’s soon.

The weather has been so good but the captain said that there might be a storm tonight but I hope not because then everything will be wet and we will be wet because we don’t have shelter or anything we just sleep under the sky and the stars with our blankets and backpacks. Also our food would get wet and then it will be yuck to eat.

Also one of my friends died (Tom.) We also had a funeral for her yesterday. I was so sad all of her friends came and we were crying and we told some speeches , but we couldn’t take long because we would've got killed so it was pretty short. But it’s alright because she is in a better place now.

Also one last thing I want to tell you is that the food here is disgusting they aren't even fresh because when I want to eat there is always flies and bugs on it YUCK. That’s why I like it when you send me food and stuff. Thank-you.

That’s what i've been up to past these weeks. Once again hope your doing okay and hope I can see you soon love you take care bye , Please write back as soon as you can xxxx miss you hope I can come home soon and the war is almost finished.

From you loving daughter
Alyssa

WALT: Create a garden with a pool using square units

Today in maths , my class (room 11) created a garden using square units. We did this because to understand the concept of area. This was easy to do because our teacher told us how many units it was for each part (except for the grass.) I thought this was a fun activity. Also, now I know why people don't have pools because they are too expensive.

ANZAC Day

FullSizeRender.jpgWALT: Commemorate Anzac day

Yesterday after lunch Room 7 to 12 went to the front of the school and planted the cross. But before we started Wesley told room 7 , 8 , 9 and 10 what we were doing and why we were doing it. Then room 11 and 12 planted our crosses and then Miss Lamus did a poem and then we went back to class.

Problem solving with Mrs Bina

Today a maths teacher came into our class to teach us maths but only a few people went on the mat. Mrs Bina the maths teacher is a Maths Facilitator in New Zealand. Anyway Mrs Bina was teaching us about the birthday cake as you can see in the photo at the top. When she was teaching us she told us to respect each other. Then we got into a group of 3 and in my group was Andrea and Tane. After that Miss was asking us how to half ⅓ of the cake and that was really hard for me because I didn't understand it probably but then I got it. Then she had to leave because it was nearly morning tea. I would like to learn more about halving fractions.Maths with Mrs Bina

Trenches

Trenches

Last Thursday we had to make a trench out of playdoh and if you don’t know what a trench is well it is what soldiers in the ww1 were in. Anyway Miss Ramkolowan put us in groups and in my group was Petuana and Lana. We did this because it was for our topic studies.

Firstly we had to get information for the trench so we know what we’re making. Then when we finished getting information Miss made us play dough for us. As soon as we got the play dough we got some cardboard and started on our trench.

Secondly Petuana,Lana and I had to each make part of the trench. While we were making the wall we were planning what we should make next to go in the trench. Also in our trench there was a dog, first aid kit, food and sandbags. When we finished we had to let the play dough dry in the weekends.

Next when it was Tuesday we had to paint the trench and and complete it so Petuana,Lana and I painted the trench and we got some sticks and put them on the trench.

Lastly the hardest part was making the wall because it couldn’t stay up right and I think working in a group in better than working only.
